Rehabilitation of Offenders Act
The school will treat applicants who have a criminal record fairly and will not discriminate because of a conviction or other information revealed. School Business Manager

£18.35 - £22.85 per hour (FTE £35,412 to £39,152)
The Headteacher and Governors of Southmead Primary School are seeking to appoint a highly motivated, experienced and dedicated School Business Manager to join our school leadership team.
This is an exciting opportunity for a talented professional who is passionate about making a difference to children’s lives be ensuring the school operates effectively, efficiently and sustainably. Working closely with the Headteacher and Governors , you will be a key member of the Senior Leadership Team, contributing to the school’s vision and long-term success.
As School Business manager you will lead and oversee all aspects of the school’s business and operational functions, ensuring that resources are managed effectively to support outstanding teaching and learning.
Your responsibilities will include
- Strategic financial planning, budget management and financial reporting.
- Supporting the Headteacher and Governors with school improvement and development planning.
- Leading on procurement, contracts and value for money initiatives.
- Managing human resources processes, recruitment and staffing administration.
- Overseeing premises, health and safety, compliance and facilities management.
- Leading administrative and support services across the school.
- Developing systems and processes that drive efficiency and excellence.
- Ensuring compliance with statutory and regulatory requirements.
- Contributing to the strategic leadership and future direction of the school.
We are looking for someone who:
- Has experience in financial and operational management.
- Has a relevant qualification in business administration, finance or school business management (eg CSBM, DSBM).
- Is an effective leader with excellent organisational and communication skills.
- Can think strategically while maintaining attention to detail.
- Builds positive relationships with staff, governors, families and external agencies.
- Demonstrates initiative, resilience and a commitment to continuous improvement.
- Is passionate about supporting the best possible outcomes for children.
- Shares our values and commitment to excellence in education.

Teaching Assistant - cover
£24,027 - £24,404 FTE (£12.45 - £12.65 per hour)
We are looking for people on an ad hoc basis to cover for staff absences. You would get paid for the hours you work and wouldn’t be committed to everyday – just as and when you are needed and are available. You will need to have a current DBS check which we can arrange if you are interested.
Ideally we are looking for someone with the following qualities:
- A Teaching and Learning Assistant Level 2 qualification or equivalent
- Experience of working with children and/or children with additional needs
- Experience of delivering 1:1 and/or small group interventions
- Experience of setting clear and consistent boundaries
- A positive and encouraging attitude
- Kindness and patience
- A willingness to learn
- An ability to work within a team
- GCSE Grade C or above, or equivalent, in English and Maths
This role requires the ability to fulfill all spoken aspects of the role with confidence and fluency in English.

Meal Time Assistant – Cover
We are looking for people who have an hour or so to spare between either 11.50am – 1.05pm or 12.15pm – 1.30pm on an ad hoc basis to cover lunchtimes on the KS1 and KS2 playgrounds. You would get paid for the hours you work and wouldn’t be committed to everyday – as and when you are needed and are available. You will need to have a current DBS check which we can arrange if you are interested.

School Crossing Patrol
School Crossing Patrols help children and adults cross the road safely while they are walking to and from school at a designated point/s and between specified times. They are at locations where it may be difficult to cross the road.
