“Pupils at Southmead enjoy coming to school and feel safe there. Pupils feel valued. They say that there are always staff who can help them. Parents feel happy to talk to leaders and get any help that they need. Pupils behave very well. The school is calm and well ordered. Pupils state that bullying does not occur.” OFSTED 2023

“Corridors and classrooms look amazing.  Pupils working and happy.  Year 6 escorts were confident, friendly and a credit to the school.”  PARENT TO YEAR 2 PUPILS FOLLOWING AN OPEN AFTERNOON

At Southmead Primary School, we believe every child deserves to feel safe, valued and inspired to achieve their very best.
We are committed to creating a nurturing, inclusive and ambitious school community where all pupils are treated like our own children and can flourish socially, emotionally
    and academically.
We aim to develop confident, kind and resilient learners who are proud of who they are, respect others and are prepared to contribute positively to the world around them.

    Mission statement: Ethos and Values

At Southmead Primary School, we aim to:

    - provide a safe, welcoming and inclusive environment where every child feels valued and is treated like they are ‘one of our own.’
    - ensure high-quality teaching and learning that enables all pupils to achieve to the best of their abilities and reach their full potential.
    - promote and model high expectations of behaviour, effort and achievement for everyone in our school community.
    - nurture curiosity, creativity and a love of learning so that pupils become motivated and independent learners.
    - develop strong values such as RESPECT, Equality, Self-Confidence, Perseverance, Enjoyment, Curiosity and Trust.
    - support children’s personal, social and emotional development so they grow into resilient, confident and considerate individuals.
    - work in partnership with parents, carers and the wider community to support every child.
    - prepare pupils for life in modern Britain by encouraging them to be thoughtful, active and respectful citizens.

Our whole school community - pupils, parents, staff and governors - have decided on a set of School Values.  The initials of these spell RESPECT:

    Braunton

Southmead Primary School is incredibly fortunate to be situated on the eastern side of Braunton, within the North Devon biosphere, which is globally recognised as an ‘area of outstanding beauty’.  We hope your children will enjoy their time here.
