Year 6 Homework
Air Raid Shelter Project
We have spent this term focusing on World War Two: why it started, evacuation, the
Home Front and D-Day. As part of this amazing learning, we would like you to create
an Anderson shelter (there was one in Mister Tom’s garden). You have until
Wednesday 17 th December to create your shelter and bring it in, then we will have a
‘class gallery’, where we all get to walk around and enjoy each other’s creative ideas.
In previous years people have used: Lego, tin cans, leaves, playdoh, cardboard, lolly
sticks, fake grass, shoe boxes, animal figures, modelling clay vegetables and even
CAKE to create their shelters.
If you feel it may be difficult to create a model, then you could consider making a
PowerPoint or a poster to show your understanding of this form of wartime
protection.
Remember if you need support with your project, please let us know. Below are a few photos of previous projects to give you some inspiration.
Times tables
Please make sure that you are practising for your times table test (which is every Friday).
Reading
Please make sure that you read and record your reading in your reading diary FIVE times every week.
