  • Year 1 Beach Day

    Fri 16 Jul 2021

This term our topic has been Oh! I do like to be beside the seaside so we just had to visit the beach. We played beach games, had a picnic, created beach art, built lighthouses for Mr Grinling (from the Lighthouse Keeper’s Lunch) and worked together in teams. Children helped with a beach clean and we collected a whole carrier bag of litter. It really was a pleasure to work with the children and see them having such an enjoyable day. Thank you to all who were involved.

  • Activities this week

    Fri 16 Jul 2021

This week we have enjoyed our Year 2s visiting The Great Field as part of their topic work. It was lovely to see them so excited as they set off and the stories upon their return.

Our Year 1s also hit the beach this week as part of their Seaside Topic. Thank you to all the Parents/Carers who dropped/collected children at Saunton. The children (and staff) had a brilliant day. Building sandcastles, Beach Art and litter picking were just some of the activities of the day. All of the children were once again fabulous! We could not have been prouder!

Year 6 travelled on their bikes to Rock Park for a great day out. I was so impressed with their amazing attitude and kindness and manners on their travels. People were stopping us to share how impressed they were with their manners and Tarka Trail etiquette. We could not be prouder of them!

Grey Seals have today attended the Wave Project. I’m looking forward to hearing all of their stories on their return.

  • Year 6 visit Hakeford Woods' Forest School

    Fri 09 Jul 2021

At the end of their time at primary school  the year 6 children are given opportunities to develop their team building .This opportunity enables them to develop skills that they can use as they transfer to secondary school. They were able to work together to solve problems, while developing social and communication skills. They also learnt about the local habitat. They were encouraged to respect their environment and think of different ways of looking after this. The children learnt from Forest Schools trained practitioners.

  • Year 5 / 6 KWIK Cricket

Fri 02 Jul 2021 Nick Plumb

I had the pleasure to take 20 of our Year 5s and 6s to
Braunton Cricket Club yesterday. This was a Trust
event which saw Southmead, Marwood and Caen all
    involved.
Our children were exceptionally well behaved and played together as a team. As a result, we were
involved in both the final and 3rd/4th place play-off final - very impressive since we only took 2 teams!
Through teamwork and commitment, we took Silver and Bronze. Southmead A narrowly lost to Marwood A by 3 runs in the final - it was an exciting match full of wickets and boundaries. Southmead B beat Marwood B, again by narrow margins (5 runs) to take 3rd place
    too.
I could not have been prouder of our children for all of their efforts and behaviour.
